Mursley Hawks   9 - 1   Woburn Sands Mosquitoes

A third big win in four matches for Hawks will probably see them move into a clear 4th place in the division 2 table at
the two thirds point of the season.  Both teams were fielding one reserve, from division 4, alongside two regulars.

The opening set was actually the closest of the night, as Martin Johnson took on Glenn Barcham, and the momentum
swung one way, then the other, but it was Martin who just edged the deciding game at 13-11, to get the home team off
to a winning start.  Frank Beck added to the lead, beating Mosquitoes' reserve Alan Badbury, but then Paul Hamer got
one back for the visitors, despite some spirited hitting from Hawks' reserve, Joe Rich, who lost 12-14, twice, in games
two and three.  Frank / Martin won their seventh doubles out of eight against Glenn / Paul, and Hawks kept improving
their advantage as the evening wore on, with Frank beating Glenn in four games, Martin doing likewise against Paul,
then Joe winning the battle of the reserves.  Paul looked like he was going to grab another point for Mosquitoes, as
he went 2-1 up in games against Frank, who looked out of ideas, but Frank battled back with a steady mix of defence
and timely hits, to complete his maximum.  Glenn, too, appeared to be on the way to another win, but Joe upped his
game from 2-0 down in games, to sneak games 3 and 4, both 11-9, before taking the decider in style, 11-4.  Martin
finished off the evening by defetaing Alan, to complete a second consecutive 9-1 win for Hawks, and end their year
in fine style, whilst it will leave Mosquitoes in sixth place.
