Match Report
Mursley Swallows 6 - 4 Newport Pagnell Lagondas (Player of the Match : Chris Horn)
Swallows made it two wins in a row (after they had started the season with three close defeats), and also left Lagondas still without a win, but it was far from one sided. Roger Shelton beat Glen Davison, whilst Peter Sear defeated Roy Read, as the home team moved 2-0 ahead, and although Martin Johnson twice went ahead in games versus Chris Horn, it went the distance, and after Martin missed a sitter a 9-9 in the decider, Chris edged it at 11-9. Chris & Glen then combined in the doubles against Peter & Roger, and despite going two games down, won through in five, to even up the match score at 2-2. Peter soon went 2-0 up playing Glen, but Glen dug in well and pulled it level, before the fifth inevitably went all the way to deuce, with Peter just shading it 13-11. Chris once more evened the match up, as he beat Roger, again after going one game down. Martin restored the home team lead, but not before being extended to the full five legs by Roy, only for Chris to complete his maximum as he outgunned Peter, to bring the match score level, again, at 4-4. However, Swallows took the final two sets of the night, and thus the win, as Martin beat Glen in a close encounter (only four games, this time, not the usual five), whilst Roger rounded off the win against Roy, despite Roy taking the opening game.
