STUBBON SPINNERS HALT WARRIORS CHARGE

Two outstanding matches this week played on Wednesday night at MKTTC headquarters saw a change on the leader board as Warriors draw and Titans win again.

Champions Titans grabbed the opportunity to go back to the top with both hands as they trounced Leighton Buzzard Generations 9-1 with Ricky Taiwo joining Craig Brown on a hat-trick and skipper Nick Howard conceding the lost set to bestselling author Bio Wang, who was putting in his first appearance for the club in 19 months.  Alex Du Noyer and Div 1 sub Fabrice Spelta were the other Generations players.  While their Wing headquarters still remains a fortress, the Generations side remain vulnerable 'on the road'.

Simultaneously, on an adjacent table, MK Spinners were holding league leaders Greenleys Warriors to a hard-fought draw.  This was more like the Spinners of old as they put up some fierce resistance to thwart Warriors outstanding progress this season.  Jecu Aurelian found some good form to join Alan Cherry on a brace and they shared a surprisingly one-sided doubles win against Warriors new star signings Chandupa Alahakoon and Andras Bayer.  There was no stopping Andras in the singles though, as he rolled out a hat-trick with aplomb.  Darren Ward and Chandupa both beat Ade Odetayo (their own Warriors team-mate till fortnight ago!) here.  An excellent contest and an early nomination for 'Match of the season'.

3rd placed Greenleys Glory beat Open University Primes 8-2 with a Jacob Midson treble supported by a brace a-piece from Saish Prabhu and Div 2 super-sub Saravana Kumar.  Primes singles wins came from Patrick Wong, a good victory over Saish 11-9 in the 5th, and Andy Tan over Saravana.

Finally, all one-way traffic for Greenleys Monarchs against MK Topspin. Trebles go to Dave Beddall, Tomek Nowakowski and Martin Hall. with zeros for Jiten Pitamber, Mervyn Kelly and Mal Hussain. The doubles set was the closest with the Jit/Mervyn combo losing out to Dave/Martin in the 5th.
