Greenleys Cardinals 6 - 4 Mursley Swallows
Cardinals had started the evening a point ahead of Swallows, both just below half way down the League Table, and soon looked like they would extend that gap, significantly, as they raced into a 3-0 lead, as Ian Dummett beat Martin Johnson, after dropping the first leg, then Dan Englander beat Roger Shelton in straight games, then Dwight Edwards edged through at 14-12 in the decider, after having been two legs down against John Paul. Swallows halted the slide as Roger and Martin took the doubles in four legs against Dan & Dwight, but it returned to one way traffic in the next two sets, as Dan beat Martin in four and Ian beat John, also in four, albeit both games were quite close. At 5-1 down, Swallows staged something of a recovery, reeling off the next three sets, as Roger beat Dwight, after dropping the first leg, then John edged out Dan at 11-9 in the fifth, in a see-saw battle, and then Martin beat Dwight, again in 4 legs. However, Cardinals had the last word, and took the win, to extend the gap ahead of Swallows to three points at the halfway point of the League season, as Ian again dropped one leg, but then powered through to win in four against Roger.
Roll on the second half of the season.
