Taxi for Van Hire as Kings run rampant.
In what was an early top of the table match after both teams won 9-1 during the opening week, Greenleys Kings hosted Leighton Buzzard Van Hire in a juicy encounter on a warm Wednesday evening.
Van Hire brought along Biao Wang, Dave Broome and skipper, The Supervising Creative Art Director, Fabrice Spelta, which is how he likes to be addressed.
Just the one change for Kings. Craig Brown brutally dropped after losing the one match last week - Who knows if he’ll get picked again….. (Message to Craig’s Mum who I know reads this….. Don’t worry, he’s playing next week!)
Danny Sedgewick made his debut for this new look Kings, alongside ever present Guy Sparrow and Nick Howard.
Now, to be able to come up with anything remotely interesting about tonight’s play, would require skills even the renowned Supervising Creative Art Director, Fabrice Spelta would struggle with.
Guy, Danny and Nick faced off against Dave, Biao and Fabrice respectively.
Just the one end was dropped by the Kings, with Biao taking the second against Danny in Deuce.
Aside from that, it was one way traffic with no Vans permitted.
The next three saw Danny, Guy and Nick against Dave, Fabrice and Biao.
Two ends dropped this time - Danny coming through 3-1 against Dave, whilst Nick overcame a shaky start to beat Biao by the same score line. A welcome win for the Kings captain who had lost the last 3 encounters.
No such issues for Sparrow as he won 3-0 against Spelta.
The last 3 matches were over even quicker….. All 3-0 with Danny securing a fantastic hat-trick against Fabrice, Nick beating Dave and Guy finishing off his perfect evening against Biao.
The doubles, played at the end was another 3-0. Nick and Guy holding on against Dave and Fabrice.
Certainly not a score line I’d have predicted, and not a match that will be remembered for it’s quality.
