Team effort sees Kings rise firmly to the ranks of the mediocre!
A classic mid table tussle awaited the spectators at Greenleys tonight. MK Sasaki and Greenleys Kings were both sitting on 40 points, although Sasaki had a game in hand.
Michael Wilkins with his new pimples (not the teenage kind), was joined by WIlliam Lim and Nicholas Wong.
Nick Howard, Guy Sparrow and Iain Lindsay turned out for the Kings.
Iain kicked off proceedings against Mike with a superb 3-1 win before battle of the Nick’s spent the next half an hour deciding who wanted to win.
11-13, 14-12, 15-17, 11-9, 11-9 and Howard finally overcame the youthful Wong to scrape home. In truth, the younger Nicholas should have won it, but his time will come!
Sparrow continued his rich vein of form with a commanding 3-0 win over WIlliam. He also took down Mike to the same score line, and only dropped one end to Nicholas - A stark difference from the form he started the season with.
Guy has now won 8 in a row, compared with just 8 of his first 25!
Iain can count himself unlucky to not pick up another scalp on the evening. Chances came and went in matches with Nicholas and WIlliam, but ultimately the Towcester man went down in 4 both times.
Howard found some kind of form to beat Mike in 3 (despite Wilkins having 4 or 5 point leads in all 3 games), and Lim by the same score line.
Despite hat tricks on the night for Sparrow and Howard, they couldn’t quite find their rhythm in the doubles, and the pairing of Wilkins and Wong ran out winners over 5 ends.
A 7-3 night for the Kings, which amazingly puts them 4 points off 3rd place with a 3rd win on the bounce!
