Mick's Max
Third placed Mursley Hawks maintained their push to stay in the top half of the Division 2 League Table, with a second successive 7-3 win, this week against equal fifth placed Little Horwood Wooden Tops.
Mick O'Mahoney picked up a third treble and second maximum of the season for Hawks, with comfortable straight games wins over John Sharp and Paul Reynolds, and the doubles with Martin Johnson against John and Andy Hooper, although he had to go down to the wire in the set of the night against Andy, finally squeaking through 14-12 in the decider, having been two legs down! New to the Club, this season, Mick has been steadily improving, and his recent run of 13 wins from his last 15 has seen him move into the top six in the Averages.
Martin also picked up two wins for Hawks, but lost out, as usual, to John, whilst Ian Spanswick completed the scoring for Hawks in the final set of the night, with some great hitting against Andy. Earlier in the night, Ian had been pipped 11-9 in the decider by Paul, who, like Mick, came back from two legs down to complete a fine comeback. John also took a four legs win over Ian, to complete Little Horwood's tally on the night.
The win briefly put Hawks top of the table by a point, although they had played extra matches, however Greenleys Princes have already gone back ahead, whilst Newport Pagnell Lagondas will inevitably push them back down to third again, after they play on Friday night. Little Horwood, meanwhile, drop back to sixth place, as we edge towards the two thirds point of the season.
