BANDITS HELD BY STRONG KINGS DISPLAY
Kings brought arguably their strongest side to the MK Centre still seeking their first win of the season. Nick and Guy being joined by Henry Arthur.
For Bandits were James, Matt and Jamie.
Nick versus Matt saw a three set win for Matt, but with two of the sets going 17-15 and 13-11, it was a close game with fantastic attacking play at both ends of the table.
James lost to Guy in four, with Guy showing some good form and strong looping. Jamie then beat Henry.
The doubles proved to be a one way affair, with Jamie and Matt losing in three to Nick and Guy to level the match at 2-2.
And so it continued, nip and tuck until the last 3 encounters, no match going past four games and the score 4-3 to Bandits.
James against Henry saw the first five setter of the evening, and Henry leapt into a 5-0 lead in the fifth. The fight back brought James level at 7-7, but as is often the case, getting level is easier than taking the lead, and Henry took the set and the point 11-7.
Jamie against Nick saw the next five setter, always a close game between these two Nick always had his nose in front and took the fifth easily to make it 5-4 to Kings, and the chance of their first win fell to Guy versus Matt.
Matt took the first set before Guy nicked the second 11-9. A fired up Matt then took the third set 11-1, before Guy fought back and took the fourth. In the end, Matt pulled away in the fifth, but was breathing a huge sigh of relief after what must be one of Guy’s best performances this year.
A hard fought draw played in great spirit.
