Milton Keynes Classics were in fourth place, hosting seventh placed Mursley Swallows, when they played on Wednesday night, but a 3-0 advantage immediately swung to the visitors as the home team were down to just two players, with their third player unable to attend due to severe traffic issues! However, Barbara Peters immediately pulled one back for Classics, as she beat Roger Shelton in four legs, with some crisp hitting. Martin Johnson then put the visitors 4-1 up, defeating Tom Tofield over four very tight games. Peter Sear, back from five weeks away, then went on against Barbara, and a combination of lack of practice and Barbara's continued clean striking, saw a straight games win for Barbara, as Classics closed to 2-4. Once again, the visitors edged back ahead, as Roger took another very tight four gamer against Tom. Martin/Roger combined in the doubles, and they shared the opening two legs against Barbara/Tom, but it was not to be the good life for the home pairing, as the third leg saw everything go right for the visitors, including multiple nets and edges, running away with it 11-1, before edging the more usual tight fourth game, to take the win. Tom pulled another back as he overcame Peter in three close games, but the visitors took the spoils 4-3 on the night (7-3 overall) as Martin came through, again in a tight four leg game against Barbara. Combined with other results this week, it leaves Classics back in sixth (overtaken by Tornadoes & Troopers), whilst Swallows stay seventh, but have closed the gap on the teams above, and moved further away from the relegation zone.
