So, with the League program entering it's second half, Swallows were hoping they might be able to improve on their 6-4 defeat, first time out, against Hit 'n' Hope. Things started in great fashion for them, as Martin Johnson picked up a surprise win, in five close games, and with the luck on his side, to inflict a rare defeat on Marco Hahn. However, Hit 'n' Hope took the honours in two closely fought four gamers, with Mike Ainsworth beating Roger Shelton, and Tony Coomber wiining against John Paul. The home team extended the advantage with a fifth game win in the doubles, as Marco / Tony edged out Roger / Martin. Martin pulled one back for Swallows with a four game win versus Mike, but Marco re-established Hit 'n' Hope's two set lead by beating John in straight games. The visitors again battled back as Roger sneaked an 11-9 win in the decider against Tony, but Hit 'n' Hope then finished the stronger, as Mike shaded it 11-9 in the fifth against John, before Tony and Marco won in straight games against Martin and Roger, respectively, to take them to their fourth win of the season, and close to within three points of Swallows in the League Table, and also inflict a fifth consecutive loss on Swallows, as things towards the bottom half of the table all get a little closer.
