Milton Keynes Shambles took on Mursley Hawks, two places above them in the table, after a third of the season has passed.
Things appeared to be going acording to 'form', early on, as although there were some close sets, Hawks built up a 5-1 lead.
Martin Johnson opened with a straight games win over a slightly rusty Steve Jordan, but Paddy Patel levelled it up with a four
games win over an out of sorts Frank Beck, despite dropping the first game. Hawks' fifth different reserve in seven matches,
David Bartlett, went two games down to Simon Green, but hung in well, to grab a fine five games win, before Frank / Martin
eased to a four games win over Paddy / Steve. It became 4-1 to the visitors as Martin just overcame Paddy in another five
setter, and then David snatched three close games against Steve, to make it 5-1. Cue the comeback, and Simon showed
some excellent consistency to beat Frank in four games, and Paddy held off a strong challenge from David, to just clinch it
at 12-10 in the decider, to bring Shambles back to 3-5. The final two sets were played on two tables, as time was passing
by as a result of the close games. On one table, Steve renewed battle with a familiar foe in Frank, and found enough of his
old form, to take it five close games, however, on the other table, after two tight sets left Simon and Martin at one all, it was
Martin who upped his play, to take the third and fourth four games more easily, and thus give Hawks their sixth 6-4 scoreline.
