MK Topspin 3  Greenleys Eagles 7
Bad day at the coalface for Topspin in a lacklustre performance as we tamely crashed to our 2nd defeat. Eagles are always difficult opponents and were soaring high tonight as Iain Lindsay came in for a rare appearance. Iain lost the first 2 games of the evening to me before rolling off wins in his next 9, his big forehand dominating proceedings, for a maximum. Barry Bishop did even better in conceding just the one game, to Mervyn Kelly, in another blistering attacking  display. And they combined to wipe the floor with us in the doubles too. Topspin’s only joy on the night came against Dave Plumb.
We are conceding hat-tricks quick and fast now after a solid start to the season. That’s 5 in 5 weeks as Iain and Barry join Romuald Baucherel, Alan Bolding and James Molloy in finding us easy prey. Topspin need to improve if we are to stay in the title chase. This match completes the first cycle of matches so lets hope we can turn over a new leaf next week when the reverse fixtures begin.
