Mursley Hawks and St. Christopher Spitfires started their match on equal points after three matches, so could either team
establish a lead over the other? Hawks did not need a substitute, for the first time this season, including a first match of
the season for Roger Shelton, whilst Spitfires included Andy King, who had played for Mursley Hawks, last season!
Hawks took the opener, after four tightly contested games, as Martin Johnson just edged out Bernie Raffe, but Spitfires
levelled the score, as Andy just won through against Roger, 11-9 in the decider. Frank Beck put Hawks back ahead, in a
comfortable three straight games against Jock Campbell, and Hawks opened up a 3-1 lead, as Frank / Martin combined
well to win the doubles in straight games against Andy / Bernie, to seize the advatage. However, Spitfires fought back,
with Bernie defeating Roger in straight games to close the gap to 3-2, and although Jock Campbell lost out to Roger, he
also won his encounter against Martin, and Andy came through in four games against Frank, to bring the scores level,
again, at 4-4. Frank then played Bernie, and there was almost nothing in it, throughout, with games going alternately up
to the decider, and then it was Frank who just sneaked it 12-10 in the fifth game. Final set of the night saw Martin vs
Andy, and it was another close one, but Martin just took it in three tight games, to give Hawks the 6-4 win.
