Mursley Swallows   4 - 6   Chackmore Hasbeens

Mursley Swallows stood eighth in the table prior to this match, and were also without regulars Peter Sear and Roger Shelton - as Mark Penn played for the first time for well over a season; the home trio was completed by Martin Johnson and reserve, David Bartlett. The visitors were the early division leaders, Chackmore Hasbeens, whose trio was Bub Burman, Sam Willett and Andy Whitehead. Martin faced Andy in the opener, and it was close throughout, but Martin came through after four tight games. Hasbeens hit back to take a three to one lead after the doubles, as Bub beat Mark and Sam beat David in their singles sets, before Bub teamed up with Andy in the doubles, to complete their fourth consecutive doubles win this season, against the new pairing of Mark and Martin. Mark and Andy stayed on, and yet another titanic battle, saw Mark edge home in a tense five legger, before Martin evened up the scores with yet another hard-fought five leg set versus Sam! However, Hasbeens reeled off the next three sets to go 6-3 up, although Sam was made to battle all the way, in a battle of the defenders, against Mark. The final set was yet another nail-biter, as Martin and Bub went to five games, yet again, with Martin snatching a finely balanced fourth leg to draw level at 2-2, before going on to complete his maximum in the decider, to make the final score a 4-6 loss for Mursley Swallows, their third such scoreline in their four games, whilst it was possibly enough to keep Chackmore Hasbeens top, as on one of the other tables at Mursley, Milton Keynes Tornadoes were winning 7-3 against a depleted Mursley Hawks.
