PREMIER ROUND-UP WEEK 11
TITANS WHITEWASH STRENGHTENS TITLE BID
Runaway leaders Mk Titans rolled out their 4th 10-0 hiding of the season, this time against bottom side Open University Primes with just the one set going the distance when Craig Brown squeezed past Ning He 11-8 in the decider. Regulars Nick Howard and Ricky Taiwo completed the Titan line-up with Andy Tan and James Zeng appearing for Primes.
Leighton Buzzard Generations hang on to 2nd place despite a 7-3 defeat on their visit to MK Spinners - all their sets coming in straight game wins from super-star Ming Fuk Lui. The rest went to the Spinners trio of Alan Cherry, Jecu Aurelian and Adebola Odetayo. Next week the Titans travel to Leighton Buzzard in what could be a mouth-watering clash as the Generations home form is outstanding with all of their 4 defeats so far coming in away matches.
The closest match of the week came in the Greenleys derby between Warriors and Monarchs. With only two of the Warriors squad available it was always going to be a tough challenge against former holders Monarchs, but the duo of Adrian Piotrowski and Andras Bayer prevailed by 6-4 with an Adrian hat-trick, a brace by Andras and a doubles win between them. Big John Stamp, playing on an adjacent table for his Div.2 team Princes, completed their side on this occasion. Tomek Nowakowski took the 4th Monarch point with a victory over Andras while regilars Martin Hall and Dave Beddall were the other Monarchs.
Finally, lowly MK Topspin couldn't build on their terrific 9-1 win from last week, going down by the same score-line this time round against Greenleys Glory. Skipper Russell Penn, returning from injury, did however break his duck for the season with a good win over Saish Prabhu 11-8 in the 5th for Topspin's solitary point. Iain Lindsay and Ian Mead were the other Glory boys while Jiten Pitamber and Mervyn Kelly completed the Topspin team.
