PREMIER ROUND-UP WEEK 16 PLUS
TOMEK DEFIES TITAN CHIEFS ONCE AGAIN
At last! Following the play-off of the remaining 3 fixtures the Premier fixture list is up to date for the time in months.
Last Tuesday saw Greenleys Monarchs take on MK Titans in another classic late-night encounter between the sides with Titans emerging 7-3 winners. Monarchs' Tomek Nowakowski took the major honours though with a splendid hat-trick to equal his treble the last time these teams met. As on that occasion, all the other sets went the Titan way with excellent form shown by the relentless Nick Howard, Craig Brown and Ricky Taiwo trio. Martin Hall and Dave Beddall were the other Monarchs.
On the same night in what proved to be a busy week for Warriors, the Greenleys' team beat MK Topspin 9-1 with hat-tricks from Adrian Piotrowski and Ameya Phatak plus a brace from their lively Div 2 super-sub Ricky Jackson, his 4 premier wins to date now a League record for a Div 2 player. Ricky was denied a hat-trick himself though by Jiten Pitamber. Russell Penn and Mervyn Kelly were the other Topspinners.
The over-worked Warriors were in action again on Friday for the visit to Wing to play Leighton Buzzard Generations with just the 2 changes in their line-up this time. Adrian kept his place in the side and was joined here by Andras Bayer and Darren Ward. Generations fielded a strong team themselves to win 8-2 with the usual hat-tricks from Ian Musk and Ming Fuk Liu, both unbeaten this season, and a single from Tim Cheek.
It's good to see the Premier table showing a true reflection of the state of the teams this season. While the mighty Titans look to have the title well in the bag with their massive 18-point lead, the battle for runners-up spot is developing into a tight contest between Generations and Spinners with just 4 points separating them.
