PREMIER ROUND-UP WEEK 20

ONE-WAY TRAFFIC FOR TOP DOGS

A tough week for the bottom trio as they were well and truly steamrollered by the League's big guns, managing only a single individual win between them. Shout-out though for Jit Pitamber in securing the victory in question for MK Topspin in their derby match with Spinners, albeit a nail-biting 12-10 in the 5th affair against Gary Jones.  Russell Penn and Mal Hussain were the other Topspin players while Alan Cherry and Jecu Aurelian played for Spinners.  In the dozen encounters between the teams so far, Spinners have lost just 2 sets and Alan has a win/lose record of 36-0.  Another accolade for Alan here is the number of points conceded, 31, equalling his own all-time League record for 'least points conceded in a match' and against the same opponents too!

As indicated, the other 2 matches were both 10-0 whitewashes - for leaders MK Titans over Greenleys Glory and for Greenleys Monarchs against Open University Primes.  There was a distinct lack of 'Ians' on show though for Glory as this was the first time ever in the Premier that have turned out a team without featuring at least one of the famed Ian trio.  Skipper Jacob Midson turned instead to Div 3 Sub Micky Shun Hang Lung to fill in alongside himself and Saish Prabhu to face the already crowned champions MK Titans.  At least Micky enjoyed a great Premier debut when she took Nick to a 5th game decider.

In the Thursday match at the Open University, visitors Greenleys Monarchs logged hat-tricks all-round for Tomek Nowakowski, Colin Luscombe and Dave Beddall, although Dave was taken to 12-10 in the 5th by Ning He. The other Primes players were Andy Tan and Patrick Wong. This brought up the number of 10-0 results in the division this season to 17 in total (21.5% of matches[played).

The Greenleys Warriors/Leighton Buzzard Generations match due this week has been postponed.
